EAPL no longer shares power in Trakai district municipality

@ DELFI

Yesterday (31 January) the council of Trakai district municipality elected a new mayor – a social democrat, Vytautas Zaleck. His predecessor was a liberal centrist, Vincas Kapočius.

14 from 25 councilors voted for Kapočius’ dismissal. Teresa Sołowiowa from EAPL lost the post of deputy mayor. Her dismissal was upheld by 14 councilors.

“A new majority was thus formed. Social democrats left the coalition. Previously, the coalition comprised of the Polish, the liberal centrists and social democrats. We had 16 councilors in general. Then, among the social democrats some internal disputes flared up,” the former mayor of Trakai, Vincas Kapočius, told BNS.

The new governing coalition in Trakai district municipality was formed by social democrats, the Labour Party (Darbo partija), the Christian Party (Krikščionių partija) and conservatives.
