A representative of national minority will be elected for Lithuanian Culture Council

Up to the 30th of October, legal and natural persons can submit candidates for the member of Lithuanian Culture Council. A candidate should be the representative of one of national minorities that live in Lithuania.

The elections of a new member of Culture Council has been held by the Ministry of Culture. The new elected person will replace Stanisław Widtmann who is the Council Member that has been nominated for a Lithuania energy attaché in Warsaw.

Candidates should have achievements in culture or art and at least 5-year experience in culture projects.

Now the members of Culture Council are: the specialist in culture Daina Urbanavičienė, the composer Vidmantas Bartulis, art researcher Rūta Janonienė, the theatre critic Vaidotas Jauniškis, the librarian Rima Maselytė, the architect Kęstutis Pempė, the artist Saulius Valius, the specialist in culture Remigijus Vilys, the photographer Stanislovas Žvirgždas and the literature researcher Gintautė Žemaitytė.

Culture Council is responsible for financing culture and art programmes, projects and events. The Council monitors them, manages the sources from Cultural Support Fund, grants scholarships to art and culture creators, organises research on culture and art and coordinates it.

Culture Council spends around 50,000,000 litai on culture and art projects per year.
