Cinema memory. ‘Zapomniana rozgłośnia’ film

The House of Polish Culture in Vilnius and the Institute of National Remembrance in Białystok invite for a documentary film ‘Zapomniana rozgłośnia’ (‘Forgotten broadcasting station’) (directed by Józef Wierzba) about one of the best broadcasting station of the Polish Radio in the interwar period.

The Polish Radio in Vilnius played a significant role in Northeastern Europe – it fought a war with Soviet propaganda, it broadcasted a Holy Mass from the Gate of Dawn every day and once a week it aired a 15-minute programme in Belarusian – ‘Chwila białoruska’ (‘The Belarusian Moment’). Hulewicz, Beynar (Jasienica), Gałczyński, Łopalewski, Miłosz, Ordonówna and many others cooperated with the Radio.

The evening programme includes also other documentaries by Józef Wierzba, a journalist connected with Białystok centre of TVP (the Polish Television), the author of many films on the Poles in Borderlines and a series of broadcasts ‘Moje Kresy’ (‘My Borderlines’), ‘Opowieści wileńskie’ (‘Vilnius stories’), ‘Gdzieś na Rusi…’ (‘Somewhere in Ruthenia…’).

The film will be screened on 7th February 2013 at 5 p.m. in the House of Polish Culture  concert hall.

Admission free.
