Loreta Graužinienė: The Law on National Minorities is not only for the Poles

All of the national minorities should come to an agreement concerning the Law on National Minorities, stated the Marshal of the Seimas Loreta Graužinienė, signalling clearly that the passing of the Law on National Minorities, prepared by the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania, is not anticipated.

“All of the national minorities should come to an agreement concerning the Law on National Minorities, for the time being there is no such an agreement. The Law on National Minorities is not only a law of the Polish national minority, it is a law of National Minorities, that concerns everyone  – Karaites, Russians, Ukrainians and other minorities, therefore we should find a compromise. Right now the law is not a priority” – told the reporters in the Seimas Graužinienė.

The Marshal of the Seimas probably meant the project submitted by the vice-Marshal of the Seimas Jarosław Niewierowicz, which suggested the comeback of the old Law on National Minorities.

On the other hand, after the first reading of the new Law on National Minorities, the article concerning the bilingual plates was crossed off of it.
