To reborn scouting in the Šalčininkai region

The first scouts groups in the area of Šalčininkai were created in the nineties, after the restoration of independence of Lithuania, during the  revival of Polish and Polish social organizations. In the first decade of the existence of the scouts in the area Šalčininkai, a number of trial teams was created, but due to the lack of trained leaders and professional assistance, as well as legal basis for the conduct of educational activities, their activities have been suspended. Attempts to revive the scouts in the area of Šalčininkai was started by Jan Śniadecki Secondary School in Šalčininkai. At the invitation of forest district manager of Gleboki Brod Forestry – Tadeusz Wilczynski, from 23 July to 3 August a group of middle school children took part in a scout camp scout in Borki base near Bialystok.

Stanislaw Moniuszko Polish Scouting Association Troop from Bialystok took care of 15-member group of children from Šalčininkai. Several days spent in tents in the base was marked by getting to know scout sciences, field games and fun. Some of the activities were a real school of survival. The motto of the camp was “Akademia Pana Kleksa” by Jan Brzechwa. Excerpts from the movie and book were used to education and outdoor play area in the classroom. The four oldest children in the care of Maciej Radziszewski had the opportunity to experience the true scout adventure, by spending a night in a tent outside the scout base.

“Young people have expressed for long the desire to start a team, so the proposal of the forest district Manager of Gelboki Bord Forestry – Tadeusz Wilczynski was an offer somebody cannot refuse. This is a man who has a huge contribution to the revival of scouting in Šalčininkai. We would like to thank him very much for this initiative and for the fantastic time spent learning, playing, resting and working on ourselves”- said in an interview Wilnoteka with the Deputy Director of Jan Śniadecki Secondary School in Šalčininkai  – Beata Mockienė.

When asked about future plans, Beata Mockienė said that from 20 to 25 August in Šalčininkai scout camping trip is planned with the participation of five scouts from Stanislaw Moniuszko Troop ZHP Bialystok. “To participate we also invited children from Turgeliai and Dieveniškės. If we can create three clusters, in September we can apply to the Scouting Association in Lithuania with a request for the establishment of a strain in the region of Šalčininkai” – she added.
