XXI Stanisław Moniuszko International Festival of Musically Gifted Children and Youth

Students of music schools from Vilnius, Trakai, Vilnius, Šalčininkai and Švenčionys District Municipality performed during the XXI Stanisław Moniuszko International Festival of Musically Gifted Children and Youth, which was organized by the Stanisław Moniuszko Polish Culture Center. They played tunes of the Polish, Lithuanian, Russian, German and even Chinese composers.

The Stanisław Moniuszko Festival of Musically Gifted Children and Youth has been organized for the last 20 years and it gathers the students of music schools from Vilnius and Vilnius region, regardless of their nationality.

As Apolonia Skakowska, the director of Stanisław Moniuszko Polish Culture Center, the festival organizer said, the participants of previous editions have already graduated from music academies in Vilnius and abroad, and they pursue international careers. Apolonia Skakowska mentioned, among others, Gabriela Vasiliauskaitė who is now working in Germany, sisters Iwona and Beata Krapikaitė and Denis Grocki. “I consider them to be the children of this Festival which creates cultural elite of Poland. They are totally different children, who understand music, culture, are well-mannered and capable of serving others” – Apolonia Skakowska said to “Wilnoteka”.

54 young musicians performed during the XXI Stanisław Moniuszko International Festival of Musically Gifted Children and Youth. They came from the Music School in Rūdiškės, the School of Fine Arts in Pabradė, the Stanisław Moniuszko School of Fine Arts in Šalčininkai, the Music School in Naujoji Vilnia, the Music School in Jašiūnai, Vilnius J.Tallat-Kelpša Conservatory, the School of Fine Arts in Rudomino.

The jurors awarded 12 participants the title of laureate of the XXI Stanisław Moniuszko International Festival of Musically Gifted Children and Youth.
