A concern for Vilnius youths

On the 3rd of December, during a discussion organized in the registered office of the Vilnius district municipality local government not only was the current situation of young people discussed but also a plan of a project to solve the youth problems was drawn up along with guidelines for its implementation.

The experts from the local government, the members of the Youth Affairs Council, the representatives of the communities located near the capital city and the welfare pedagogues took part in the discussion. Formulation and implementation of plans that may solve the problems of young people on the local and national level aim at establishing and strengthening the cooperation between public and non-governmental sectors in the scope of youth policy, optimization of the use of human and subjects resources, submission of proposals to change legislative acts and at participation in the realization of youth policy long term strategy.

As a part of the formulation of those plans and monitoring the process of their implementation at the end of years 2012 and 2013 various events such as meetings, training courses, discussions and presentations are organized in order to identify the problems concerning the youths from all 60 Lithuanian districts. They aim at establishing to which groups of young people more attention should be paid and what measures should be taken to accomplish the plans better. They also made a comparison of different methods of plans’ realizations.

The last stage of the project is in progress, that is, the formulation of the final plans for solving youths problems, which are based on the conclusions drawn during prior meetings, training courses and discussions .

The projects will be put forward to the councils of local governments. The project “Integrated Youth Development Strategy” is realized from the UE Social Funds and from the budget of Republic of Lithuania. The project is monitored by the Department of Youth Affairs by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour.
