Niewierowicz is the most likely candidate for the Minister of Energy

The coalition parties announced their candidates for the Ministers of the current government. Jarosław Niewierowicz, the President of the LitPol Link company, will most probably be appointed by EAPL as the Minister of Energy. 

The leader of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania (EAPL), Valdemar Tomaševsky, said to PL DELFI: “We have a few candidates for this post and Jarosław Niewierowicz is one of them. He has the biggest chance to be elected.” Tomaševsky added that the final decision will be announced tomorrow. “I believe everything will be clear by then”, he said. Jarosław Niewierowicz is an economist who held the position of the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania in years 2006-2008. In 2008 he was named the President of the LitPol Link company that aims at creating energy interconnection between Lithuania and Poland.

Other parties’ candidates

Other parties have also uncovered the names of their candidates. Six Ministers will represent the social democratic party in the government. Linas Linkevičius, the current Ambassador of Belarus, is to be appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The candidate for the Minister of National Defense is Juozas Olekas; for the Minister of Communications- Rimantas Sinkevičius; and for the Minister of Finance- Rimantas Šadžius. Both Julius Sabatauskas and Juozas Bernatonis stand as the candidates for the Minister of Justice. The name of the future Minister of Health remains unknown.

Remigijus Žemaitaitis is supposed to become the Minister of Interior, while Valentinas Mazuronis is said to take up the post of the Minister of Environment. Both politicians belong to the Order and Justice party („Tvarka ir teisingumas”).

Wiktor Uspaskich, the leader of the Labour party (“Darbo partija”), informed that he has already selected the candidates (including independent ones). However, he would prefer not to unveil their names yet.
