Kite Art – Poles from Vilnius are the best band in Lithuania

“Music – it is not sport, therefore we are not rivals on the stage, but instead we try to do what we can do best” – said Robert Bieńkuński, the vocalist of the victorious “Kites”, just after the announcement of the results of the LRT Opus competition.

Throughout the whole summer 30 young bands, playing from heavy metal to hip hop, competed for the main award of the LRT Opus competition. The mimes from Neteisėtai Padaryti, lively Mood Sellers, heavy Illegalism, rockers from Ellse (they moved up to the next round thanks to the votes of the Internet users) and melancholic Kite Art met in the final round, after going through several elimination stages. It was the band of Poles from Vilnius, singing on a Sunday night in Polish and English, that proved to be the best and unanimously won the whole project.

The jury did not have an easy evening – the representatives of different styles of music gathered on the stage, and to be honest the bands did not have anything in common. That however did not prevent them to present qualitative music and an even level of performance and till the last moment it was not certain to whom Nike will be favourable. Maybe only the audience did not have any illusions – it were the boys from Kite Art that were the most cheered on.

And there was something to fight for – the winners were awarded the possibility to film a video clip, professional recording in Skamp studio, possibility to perform during the Loftas Fest’14 and transmission of the video clip in the ether of LRT.

As Robert Bieńkuński, who was not able to recover and seemed not to believe in the success of the band as of yet, said during the talk with zw.lt, the „Kites” won a music competition for the first time in the history of the band. When asked what does this win mean for them, he asked for some time to consider this.

“We won something for the first time in the band’s existence. Now we need to calm down, think everything through. Tomorrow I will know what this means for us. Right now I know that thanks to this win we will perform during the Loft Fest next weekend” – summed up the vocalist.

The band is not only awaiting the performance during the festival, but also the professional recording of a song and filming of a video clip. Who knows, maybe this will get us closer to the long awaited début album of Kite Art.
