@ DELFI

Vilnius joins the charity event “The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.” Szkolny Punkt Języków Ojczystych is organising GOCC i Vilnius. Voluntary donations can be made in Vilnius and Šalčininkai.

“With reference to activities of GOCC, and in response to the invitation of Polish schools in Lithuania, the teachers of Szkolny Punkt Języków Ojczystych organised a series of classes entitled “It is worth being selfless,” as a promotion of voluntary work and serving others. Two classes have already taken place in Joachim Lelewel upper secondary school in Vilnius and one each in John Paul II lower secondary school and the Vilnius branch of the University of Bialystok. After the grand finale of GOCC we will organise classes in Szymon Konarski, Józef Kraszewski and Adam Mickiwicz upper secondary schools,” said Marek Jankowski, one of the teachers of Szkolny Punkt Języków Ojczystych and a member of  GOCC team.

Szkolny Punkt Przedmiotów Ojczystych put the main GOCC team in the building of ‘Znad Wilii’ radio.”

“Voluntary donations can be made in the building of “Znad Wilii” radio on 60 Laisves street, in the House of Polish Culture in Vilnius and in the House of Culture in Šalčininkai after the celebrations of  the Defender of Lithuanian Freedom Day,” informed Jankowski.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is a foundation which organises annual money-rasing events where collected donations are used to buy medical equipment for Polish hospitals. The events are organised worldwide. This year the funds will be allotted for “saving lives of children and providing adequate health care for the elderly.” Those who opened their hearts to others can be easily recognised, as every donor is given a sticker in the shape of red heart with “Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy” (Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity) written on it.
