Photo exhibition in commemoration of Bronisława Kondratowicz

@ DELFI

Initiated by Edward Piórko, a lawyer, and the daughters of Bronisława Kondratowicz, who was supported by the University of the Third Age by the Polish Community House, there was opened the exhibition called “Jesteśmy by pamiętać” [pol. We live to remember]. It serves to commemorate the photographer.

It was the idea of Edward Piórko to gather the photographs and belongings of Bronisława Kondratowicz, and make an exhibition. We needed a proper site in order to do so. The University of the Third Age volunteered to offer a room in the Polish Community House. – said the daughter of Bronisława Kondratowicz, interviewed by PL DELHI.

The artistic heritage of my mother is great. We plan on making a catalogue and provide it to the viewers in the Internet so that more people can learn about her output. – Edyta added.

I guess it’s been one month after Bronia’s death that we met with Ryszard Kuźmo and Jan Andrzejewski to decide that such an event is necessary. During the first organizational meeting we chose a set of photos to be put on exhibition, but we didn’t limit ourselves only to them. We have also presented some old documents, Bronisława’s old cameras, and private souvenirs. We wanted it to be a vivid and interesting event. – Edward Piórko told to PL DELHI.

The lawyer also said that there is a soon exhibition planned that will take place in the Polish Gallery of Art and include the photographs.

The recent event will last as long as January 13, 2013.

Bronisława Kondratowicz was born on September 15, 1944 in the village of Małe Kubiszki, the Vilnius area. After finishing the secondary school in Niemenczyn, she began to study in the vocational school of photography. For 25 years her major place of working was the press agency ELTA. Meanwhile, she was collaborating with the newspaper “Czerwony Sztandar” (the present “Kurier Wileński”), whose HQ situated at the Mostowa Street 14 served as a site for the first exhibition of her photos.
