Next, they all sat at the Christmas table, listened with emotion to Christmas carols performed by the band “Złota Jesień” from Wołczun and forgotten folk songs performed by a folk band from Sużany.

The Nursing Home in Podbrzezie is an institution providing social service for elderly and disabled people who, due to their age or disability, are not able to take care of themselves. It is the first social service institution operating in the  Vilnius District Municipality – it opened in September 2008.

The main aim of the Nursing Home is to satisfy the needs of people residing there, who cannot take care of their personal and social life on their own. It provides services helping in maintaining physical and emotional health and supporting the active way of life.

The institution delivers care for the people who cannot live in their homes and need medical care and service all the time. The Nursing Home aims at providing care for the most needy people, increasing opportunities for them and effective social assistance.

Currently 37 people from the Vilnius District Municipality are living there. The majority of residents live in two- and three-person rooms equipped with basic furniture. The patients are provided with the safe, adjusted to special needs, comfortable and cosy residential environment giving privacy. They have meals in the canteen and those who cannot move on their own have meals delivered to their rooms.

The institution has the right to deliver the basic services of ambulatory medical care, general practice and kinesiotherapy.

The Nursing Home has a harmonious 25-person team of employees who deserve for praise and words of gratitude, because by their devotion, care and diligence they substitute families for  the residents, doing their best to make these people feel at home and create together one big family.

The Nursing Home in Podbrzezie admits people living in the Vilnius District Municipality and having an appropriate referral. The people who would like to reside in the institution have to apply to the district in accordance with their place of residence in order to receive the information about essential documents which have to be filed and the mode of their consideration. After the accomplishment of formalities connected with the documents and the decision made by the Self-Government of  the Vilnius District Municipality that the person is entitled to social services, such a person, if there are any vacancies, can take up residence in a nursing home.
