4 New Kindergartens and 8 Schools To Be Built in Vilnius

There are plans to build 4 new kindergartens and 8 schools in Vilnius.

While designing the new schools, attention was paid to making the school a kind of meeting center that children would want to return to.

A modern Tolminkiemio middle school, which will accommodate approximately 1,000 students, is currently under construction in the capital. Special attention was paid to room layout, teaching philosophy, and integration into the neighborhood in the building. The nearby skate park will stay untouched. The new facility is scheduled to open at the end of this year.

Currently, there are almost twice as many kindergarteners as schoolchildren in Vilnius, so the city needs new schools.

The mayor of Vilnius, Remigijus Šimašius, does not exclude that a list of principles will be drawn up in the future. Those principles will have to be considered when building a new educational institution.

Back in 2015, city residents complained that their children did not go to kindergarten due to a lack of places. “Even if parents wanted to drive their child from Fabijoniškės to the kindergarten in Naujoji Vilnia, there were no places,” Šimašius said.

Currently, efforts are being made to allow the child to attend a kindergarten located as close to the place of residence as possible.
