Apolonia Skakowska nominated for the Government Culture and Art Award

The Ministry of Culture has announced a list of 40 people nominated for the Government Culture and Art Award. Among the candidates in the discipline of music, theatre, art, literature and other fields of culture, stands only one Polish woman – the president of the Stanisław Moniuszko Centre of Polish Culture in Lithuania, Apolonia Skakowska.

The winners will be selected by a specially appointed commission. Based on the committee’s decision, by 30th January 2020, the Ministry of Culture will present the government with a draft regulation on the awards.

No more than 12 prizes are awarded each year. The award has been presented since 1997 for significant contributions to the development of culture and art as well as other notable achievements in these fields. This year, the prize will amount to around 10,000 euros.
