Next to the seat of the Lithuanian Jewish community – a swastika drawn with soil
A photo of the swastika swept away from the sidewalk with a few flowers was shared on the Jewish community’s profile on the social network “Facebook”.
The chairwoman of the community, Faina Kukliansky, claims that such an event during the Fair of Nations, a week before the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance of Jewish Genocide in Lithuania, is disturbing.
“Our building was full of children who were going to the National Day. In other words, they congratulated us on the feast of the Nations…” – said the president.
The incident was reported to the police and the community plans to write a statement.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius calls this incident pathetic.
“This is a pathetic event that requires urgent investigation. Certainly, recently there has been no place for such attacks that only bring shame. Of course, we must explain as soon as possible exactly what happened and prevent similar attacks,” said the minister.
