Adam Bielan: Polish-Lithuanian relations rapidly improving

Adam Bielan: “Polish-Lithuanian relations are rapidly improving”

“Lithuania is an important ally, an important neighbour”- said RP Senate’s Deputy Marshal Adam Bielan in a conversation with zw.lt, while participating in the Poles march in Vilnius commemorating the ‘Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad Day’.

“The RP Senate watches over Polish nationals abroad, that is why the representatives of the presidium of the Senate try to celebrate this day with our compatriots outside the borders of Poland.  The ‘Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad Day’ is special this year, because of the hundredth anniversary of independence. I am pleased that such a vast number of our nationals manifest their attachment to polishness, here in Lithuania”- pointed out Adam Bielan.

As he has informed us during his short visit, the Deputy Marshal has attended several meetings with Lithuanian politicians.

“We have talked about Polish-Lithuanian relations, which have been improving over the last months. I hope that will bring along the betterment of the Poles situation in Lithuania”- Bielan underlined.

“We are together members of the EU, together in NATO, we have similar ideas about the threats facing this part of Europe – the so-called eastern flank of NATO, threats coming from the East. Lithuania is an extremely important ally, an important neighbour”- said the Senate Marshall.

“Recently, we have had a great amount of important visits of polish politicians in Lithuania. Mr President, the PM, in December the Sejm (lower house of parliament) Marshall visited Vilnius, as did the Senate Marshall. A huge polish business presence – Poland’s second biggest investment outside of the country – Możejki, PZU’s significant share in the insurance market, yearly increasing trade turnover – so the bilateral relations are rather good” – summed up Adam Bielan.
