Paluckas supports legalization of non-Lithuanian names in documents

If we will not be able to implement left wing ideas, we go to the opposition – says Gintautas Paluckas, a new social democracy leader.

Paluckas says that he supports legalizing spelling of non-Lithuanian names in official documents and legalizing same sex relationships. According to Paluckas, Minister Milda Vainiutė does not have intuition. She has been seconded by social democrats to the post of head of Department of Justice.

‘I and the party support the idea, but coalition partners are against it. We will help Minister get the situation straight’ – says Paluckas.

According to Paluckas, social democrats group will support the idea during voting for spelling of non-Lithuanian names in documents.

‘When it comes to the whole latin alphabet, I see no problem in Lithuanian cultural identity’ highlights new social democrats leader.

The Minister of justice was going to meet head of the State Commission of the Lithuanian Language last week. They were going to discuss matter of name spelling. The meeting has been postponed to the first week of May. President Dalia Grybauskaitė declared that her position in this case depends on the position of State Commission of the Lithuanian Language.

Paluckas still has not met leaders of Farmers and Greens Union. Paluckas claims that Farmers most definitely will look for the support from conservatives and liberals.

”It means that left wing ideas are dead in the water. Social democrats will not repeat their mistakes, but if it happens so, we go to the opposition’ – says Paluckas.
