Kowalczuki kindergarten celebrates its 50th anniversary
A beautiful ceremony took place in Kowalczuki in Vilnius Region on 20 January, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the kindergarten.
Present at the ceremony were: Mayor of the Vilnius Region Maria Rekść, councillor Stanisław Zajankowski, deputy head of the administration Albert Narwojsz, head of the Department of Education Lila Andruszkowicz, a specialist from the Department of education Iwona Wojnicz who looks after the kindergarten, village Mayor Krystyna Gierasimowicz and pupils’ parents. Also the representatives from the Gymnasium in Kowalczuki and the representatives from the nearby kindergartens came to great the institution. All guests have received the folders with the history of the kindergarten’s development and all of its ceremonies, which became a tradition.
The official part of the ceremony started with a welcome speech from the kindergarten’s principal – Maria Klenowska, and a short history of the institution. She recounted the establishment of the kindergarten, the renovations that were made, the carried out projects, and the cooperation with other institutions from that region and from abroad.
The kindergarteners prepared a show for all the invited guests, during which they recited poems, danced and sang.
All the guests had an opportunity to greet the kindergarten’s community. Mayor Maria Rekść thanked the institution’s administration for their hard work and devotion to their jobs; she called to always go forward, take up new work and projects. Mayor gave the thankful certificates for the long-working pedagogues, and also handed over 150 Euros for the kindergarten. The institutions’s community has also been greeted by the Kowalczuki village Mayor, the kindergarteners’ parents, the representatives of the Gymnasiums in Kowalczuki, former pedagogues and pupils. Also the MP Józef Kwiatkowski, who could not attend the ceremony has greeted the kindergarten.
The kindergarten in Kowalczuki was established on 3 January 1966. At first it was called a nursery – Margiai turf company kindergarten, and had 6 Russian groups. In 1992 the institution had been handed over to the Vilnius Region’s local government. Between 2009 and 2011 the building has been renovated, and between 2013 and 2015 the project ”Dom radości: bezpiecznie, zdrowo, pięknie” (ang. the house of happiness: safe, healthy, beautiful) has been carried out, during which the area around the kindergarten has been arranged. Currently the institution has groups with Polish and Lithuanian language being taught, which are attended by 85 children.
