Polish-Lithuanian cooperation created a film about the image of the Merciful God

The painting “Jesus, I trust in You” is one of the most famous religious paintings created in Vilnius. Currently, the film tells the story. Vilnius premiere will take place at the beginning of April.

“This year marks the 80th anniversary of the first public display of the image. We remember that the first priest Michael Sopoćko, and today has blessed Father Michael Sopocko quite skeptical about the holy apparitions Sister Faustina. I do not quite know what to do with this image. At first image found in a monastery, a convent wicket, within the enclosure of the Bernardine Sisters. And the Lord Jesus reminded himself to be publicly exposed. After one of the revelations holidays Faustina wrote in her diary that she had seen the Lord Jesus, who told her that her confessor reminded that this image is to be publicly honored. “The main initiators of the film was me and Ingrida Laimutytė with Lithuanian television (LRT – editorial note). In this sense, from the beginning it was a Polish-Lithuanian cooperation. Come must admit that the film was entirely financed by the Lithuanian. Long wondered how to present the story. What’s in this story is important? He immediately came up with the idea to us to show the places that are associated with the worship of the Divine Mercy and the history of painting “- explained Father Marshal. The photos were shot in Poland and Lithuania, but unfortunately for political reasons could not take pictures in Belarus.

In the film, the viewer will approximate location (Bialystok, Krakow, Lodz, Ashmyany, Plock, Warsaw, Vilnius), and people (Eugene Kazimirowski, St. Faustina Kowalska, Bl. Father Michael Sopocko) related to the history of the image. The film will be accompanied by personal testimonies of people on Divine Mercy. Will share his experience both Poles and Lithuanians, among others known Lithuanian actress Dalia Michalevičiūtė and Polish actor Radoslaw Claw.

“They talked about God and mercy, but I would not reveal the details, because then it will not want to go to a movie. (…) In our opinion, this film is primarily directed to the modern viewer, a man twenty-first century. It is mainly aimed at residents of Lithuanian and Polish. Although I think it will be understood also by other consumers, “- said the priest, adding that the film can also be positively received by those far from the faith and the Church.

The film was attended by the Lithuanian side m.in.ze Cardinal Juozas Bačkis Audrys Archbishop. Gintaras Grušas, Sigita Maslauskaitė-Mažylienė (director of the Museum of Sacred Art in Vilnius), Dr. Skirmantė Smilingytė-Žeimienė (Sacred Art Director of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania), and from the Polish Bishop. Henry Ciereszko, Edith Hankowska Czerwińska – restaurateur image, p. Teresa Szałkowska ZSJM, p. Gaudia ZSMBM.

The film’s premiere will be held on April 11 in the House of Polish Culture in the chair. 16, and the next day in the chair. 19.30 show will take place on the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre. Presentation of the film will be preceded by a literary-musical program performed by artists of the Polish and Lithuanian scene. It will bring together, among others, Miroslawa Marcheluk (former director of the New Theatre in Łódź), Richard Frost (Universal Theatre in Radom), Dalia Michalevičiūtė (National Drama Theatre in Vilnius), prof. Urszula Jankowiak (Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Poznan Ages Theatre), prof. zw. Alice Panek – Piętkowska (Film School in Lodz Lodz Grand Theatre) and chamber orchestra conducted by Zbigniew Lewicki.

Entry to these events will take place after the presentation of the invitation. They can be purchased at selected points of making any sacrifice (min. 8 euros). Invitations can be purchased at the Shrine of the Divine Mercy and the Polish Cultural Centre. On Sunday, the invitation will be distributed in Vilnius churches.
