We know the candidatures to the “Polish Man of the Year 2014” title

It is 17th time “Kurier Wileński” called “Polish Man of the Year” plebiscite. The jury (Kapituła Plebiscytu) consisting of the people who had already won the “Polish Man of the Year” title chose 10 best candidats from 30 candidatures submitted by the readers, Walenty Wojniłło, journalist of Wilnoteka among them.

“Kurier Wileński” has been organizing the plebiscite for 17 years. Its aim is to honour people who accomplished something remarkable which would  leave a trace in the chronicle of Polish people in Lithuania. The course of the competition is similar every year: first, the readers need to submit their candidatures, after that the jury (Kapituła Plebiscytu) discuss each candidature and present a list of 10 best candidats, and finally the readers vote. The voting process involves cutting out special counterfoils from the newspaper (copying not allowed) and sending them to “Kurier Wileński” office. The candidate with the biggest amount of votes wins. The results will be published in January 2015.
