Tomaszewski sees Niewierowicz as the mayor of Vilnius

Leader of the Lithuanian Poles Electoral Action( AWPL) said that he has not yet managed to convince the former minister of energetics to partake in elections aimed at choosing the mayor of Vilnius.

”In my opinion, it is one of possible solutions. We discussed it with Niewierowicz, but he remains sceptical towards this idea, claiming he does not see himself in politics and, instead, he is planning to seek for employment in European structures. Discussions are still in progress and I think everything will end well”- said Tomaszewski.

Niewierowicz was dismissed after, at the request of AWPL, he had appointed Renata Cytacka for the post of vice-minister and, consequently, fell into disfavour with the PM.

Within a short time period, AWPL is going to decide when the remaining three vice-ministers will apply for dismissal. There are two possible options- either they dismiss themselves as soon as possible, or at the beginning of the Seimas’ autumn session, i.e. on the 10th September.

People from AWPL currently working for the Government are: vice-minister of agriculture Leokadia Poczykowska, vice-minister of communication Władysław Kondratowicz and vice-minister of education Edyta Tamosiunaite.
