„Wilia”: we feel distinguished

This Friday (15th August) Polish song and dance ensemble „Wilia” set off to Macedonia where they will take part in the 8th International Folk Festival “Ohrid Sun” in Ohrid.

It is not the first trip abroad of the ensemble. Two years ago “Wilia” was in Bulgaria and a year ago in Greece. The Artistic Director of the group Renata Brasel jokes that trips to the Balkans are becoming a tradition.

“We receive many offers. The choice depends on the time of year, because many dancers and choir singers are students, so spring and autumn are out of question and August is the best time” – said Brasel.

The Artistic Director of the group feels distinguished, because the ensemble receives so many offers and she claims that it happens because of the “almighty Internet”. “Wilia” has an account on Facebook and own website where you can find recordings from concerts and form an opinion.

A group of 40 people set off from Vilnius to the International Festival in Ohrid, 37 members of the ensemble and 3 accompanying persons. On the way to Macedonia “Wilia” will visit Budapest. The festival starts on 21st and ends on 25th August. “Wilia” will appear on stage on 22nd and 23rd August.
