International project involving young people from Šalčininkai

A group of youth from Šalčininkai district participated in the International Youth Meeting in Wielen “We in Europe – Youth in Dialogue”. It was the international Polish-Lithuanian-German camp organized through the cooperation of local governments: Local Region of Šalčininkai, Wolsztyn county and district of Dahme-Spreewald. This self-government initiative was supported by the Foundation “Grosses Waisenhaus zu Potsdam”.

It was already 13th meeting of young people from the three friendly governments. In 2013 Participants of the International Youth Meeting were taken in Šalčininkėliai this year – in the district of Wolsztyn, in Wielen.

Šalčininkai region was represented by the group of 14 students from J. Sniadecki Secondary School in Šalčininkai, Secondary School “Santarvės” in Šalčininkai and Primary School in Šalčininkėliai. Youth wa accompanied by the teachers J. Sniadecki Secondary School in Šalčininkai: Jolanta Wołosewicz and Walentyna Gilewicz.

The topic of the 13th International Meeting of Youth “We in Europe – the youth in dialogue” was “Music”. For 10 days in Poland, youth participated in dance workshops and painting, and organized evenings dedicated to the culture of their countries.

One of the highlights of the annual meetings of the Polish, Lithuanian and German youth is the preparation of the original presentation at the end of the camp. This year, the final ceremony guests – and they include the county mayor of Wolsztyn – Ryszard Kurp and deputy of the Dahme-Spreewald district – Wolfgang Schmidt – watched a performance of the orchestra consisting of participants of the camp.

Hosts provided participants with a variety of entertainment: sports, disco, trips to the lake, tours, sightseeing of attractions of Wolsztyn county.

The next meeting of young people from Šalčininkai district, Wolsztyn district and Dahme-Spreewald will be held next year.
