Komorowski has decorated the Vilnius Poles

President Bronisław Komorowski, in celebration of the Day of Polish Diaspora and Polish Community Abroad, has decorated twenty-one Polish immigrant community activists deserved by popularization and dissemination of Polish culture. High state decorations have been awarded, amongst other things, for achievements in artistic work. The President has also decorated two Vilnius Poles.

The Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland for the outstanding merits in popularization of Polish culture, the achievements in artistic activity has been awarded to the painter Robert Bluj and the photographer Jerzy Karpowicz.

On behalf of the whole motherland, the President thanked the decorated “for all the accomplishments – strictly of Polish immigrant community character, as well as for the ones which stem from aspiration, ambition, skill of developing the talents”.

The sum of that biographical accomplishments of all of you creates a good image of Poland in the eyes of fellow citizens, in the eyes of the whole world” – pointed out Bronisław Komorowski during the celebration in the President’s Palace.

He added, that he thanks warmly, saying that “while building own life”, the decorated haven’t forgotten that they create “a piece of mosaic of the image of Poland, Poles in the eyes of the whole world”.

“Each biography, each accomplishment in building own life, somewhere far away from the motherland is always burdened with bigger sacrifices, or bigger risks” – said Komorowski. As he added, all the more that decorated people deserve thanks.

In the celebration participated the Chairman of the President’s Office Jacek Michałowski, the Chief of NSB Stanisław Koziej, ministers and the President’s advisors. The gathered listened to the concert in performance of Academic Symphonic Orchestra of the Lviv Philharmonic.
