Another Polish politician visits Lithuania

MEP Jarosław Kalinowski is visiting Lithuania today, invited by the vice-chairman of the Lithuanian parliament Jarosław Narkiewicz.

Kalinowski will talk with Lithuanian authorities and representatives of Polish Lithuanians about the situation of Polish minority in Lithuania. One of the leading topics to discuss during the visit will be a draft of the new act on national minorities. Polish politician will also visit Soleczniki.

After almost a year of warming, Polish-Lithuanian relations are again exacerbated. One of the reasons for that is a penalty of over 40 thousand Litas for the director of administration of Soleczniki region Bolesław Daszkiewicz for not removing Polish signs from private houses.

A few weeks ago Lithuania was visited by members of Law and Justice Party (PiS) Mariusz Błaszczak and Adam Lipiński who handed over 30 thousand zlotys to cover the penalty for Daszkiewicz.
