Vilnius sets off to win Białystok’s heart
Despite very unfavourable weather conditions actors from a theatrical group called “Polskie Studio Teatrlane w Wilnie” and a singer Katarzyna Niemyćko left to Białystok for guest performances. Tomorrow will take place the first edition of Kresy Polskie Fesival.
“It will not be my first show in Białystok. Few years ago, though it may sound strange, I gave there a concert with Peace Choir. They gave us a warm welcome. I hope that Białystok inhabitants will approve my solo peformance” said for zw.lt Katarzyna Niemyćko just before the departure.
The singer is even more happy about performing in Białystok because her family lives there.”I invited them for the concert. It is a great opportunity to meet each other because we don’t meet often. I couldn’t miss it. But most of all, I will bring a piece of Polish Vilnius to Białystok” said Katarzyna during the interview.
Also “Polskie Studio Teatralne w Wilnie” with a play “Zapiski oficera Armii Czerwonej” is off to festival in Białystok.
“Of course we are glad we are going. Such trips are really cool. However, we just returned from Lodz yesterday so it will be a little bit hard but we don’t care” reassured Edward Kiejzik who is playing the leading role.
Together with E.Kiejzik will arrive: Grzegorz Jakowicz, Monika Jodko and a director of the the theatre Lilija Kiejzik.
Polskie Kresy Festival begins tomorrow with the play “ Zapiski oficera Armii Czerwonej” at 14.00 p.m.. Later there will be the award ceremony and official thanks to all representatives of schools and kindergartens from Podlasie that support Polish-language institutions in Kresy. At the end of the evening Katarzyna Niemyćko will give a concert.
The foundation “ Polacy znad Niemna” is the organiser of this event and it has a plan to organise similar events twice a year to propagate Polish art made behind the eastern border.
