Something like the 90’s

Someone in punk style, somebody in a suit, and another one in a track-suit – yesterdays (11^th May) concert in the „Muzikos rūsys” club, resembled the underground shows from the 90’s. The concert was held on the occasion of the presentation of the new album of “Saint Oil Sand” a Vilnius ska-punk group. Apart from them one could also hear „Will’N’Ska” and „Deskalighters” a group from Latvia.

The first one to play was „Will’N’Ska”. It is worth mentioning that though a short history the band earned itself a certain group of fans, who accompany the band at every concert. This is very important for a young band. What is worth noting is that a large majority of those fans are the local Poles. “Our Poles seem to be passive. Still when one creates something, and talk about it then it starts to roll.” comments Aleksander the leader of “Saint Oil Sand”, for PL DELFI. “Will’N’Ska” consists of Poles, while in “Saint Oil Sand” they represent the basis of the band.

This time “Will’N’Ska” gained a stronger than usual sound, sometimes even reaching to metal riffs. “We do not do things on purpose. We tend to experiment with sounds. Today it is sharper than usual. Next we want to create something more in reggae-punk style.” said Ernest from “Will’N’Ska”, for PL DELFI. It is important to say that when considering technical issues and the way Rafal, the lead singer was getting along with the audience, yesterdays concert may be qualified as one of the best in the history of the band.

After “Will’N’Ska” the stage was taken over by “Saint Oil Sand”, who played songs from their last album.  “Dainos iš praeities” (“Songs from the past”) is a joined project with a legend of Vilnius punk – Filia. Filia is the author of the words and music at this album. The album consists of 10 songs, and is the fourth CD in the “Saint Oil Sand” history. The album can be purchased only during concerts, but soon it will be made available on the Internet.
