First contest of School Magazines in the Vilnius Region is finished
The first prize went to the High School in Čekoniškės, for their magazine “Z głębi dziejów” (“The depths of history”).
On April 11th in the Saint Stanislaus Kostka High School, there was the official final of the First Regional Contest of Students’ Magazines. Eleven schools from the Vilnius Region participated. All magazines which were sent were really interesting and full of good content.
The topic of the magazines was the January Uprising of 1863. The assessing commission, in which there were editors of “Tygodnik Wileńszczyzny” (“Vilnius Weekly”) and a professor of the Educological University, dr. Józef Szostakowski, was amazed not only by the language correctness or the variety of journalistic forms, but also by the artwork and the aesthetics of the magazines. Everyone did their best but it was a contest, so there had to be winners.
So:
1st place: the High School in Čekoniškės: “Z głębi dziejów” (“The depths of history”) magazine
2nd place: the Saint Casimir High School in Medininkai: “Echo” magazine
3rd place: the Rafał Kalinowski High School in Nemėžis: “No title” magazine
All participants received acknowledgement and prizes, founded by the Self-Government of the Vilnius Region.
Hosts of the contest, pupils of the Saint Stanislaus Kostka High School, with help of Polish language, arts, music, dance and geography teachers prepared an artistic exhibition and an artistic programme devoted to the 150th anniversary of the January Uprising.
After a short lunch break all participants went to a “Laboratory of creating students’ magazines” seminar, which was prepared by Ms Lilia Kozakiewicz, a Polish teacher from the High School in Zujūnai.
We hope that the contest will become a beautiful tradition and there will be more participants next year.
