The representatives of the Vilnius District Local Government were granted the Prince Gedimanas Award

On January 18th, the Prince Gedimanas Award giving ceremony took place in Kiernów. The Awards have been granted to 27 entrepreneurs and social workers from the Vilnius District Municipality.

The first degree Award for “The achievements in educating the human capital” was granted to deputy, Ms Rita Tamašunienė, the present foreman of the EAPL in the Lithuanian Seimas, until recently the Deputy Director for Administration of the Vilnius District Municipality.

While accepting the main Award, Rita Tamašunienė underlined that it was a great honour for all the members of the staff co-working in the Local Government of the Vilnius District Municipality. “When the co-operation between people works out well, many things can be achieved”, said the foreman, pointing out that each social activity should be oriented toward the human well-being.

The Prince Gedimanas Awards have been granted for 11 years in four nominations: for “The achievements in educating the human capital”, for “The achievements in educating the social capital”, for “The achievements in strengthening the financial and productivity capital” and for “The achievements in social structures development”. “By granting this Award, we honour prominent people from Vilnius District who, by sacrificing their free time, bring goodness, create beauty and well-being for the society”, underlined the members of the Chapter House granting the Awards.

Among the winners, there were also the representatives of the Local Government’s Administration of the Vilnius District Municipality. The Head of the Rural Department, Mr Lucjan Binkiewicz was awarded a distinction for “The achievements in strengthening the financial and productivity capital”. The Elder of the Kalvelių eldership, Ms Krystyna Gierasimowicz was awarded a distinction for “The achievements in educating the social capital”.

The distinctions in the above-mentioned categories are awarded to the people who, through their activity and work, retain respect toward an individual and whole community. They work with devotion for their community, they care about national values and lives of the inhabitants of the Vilnius District cities. Their activity and their manner of living render their homelands more popular.
