The Grand Duke of Lithuania Gedimanas’ Awards

The last Friday, the Prince Gedimanas Award giving ceremony took place in the State Kernavė Culture Reserve. For the past 10 years, the Awards have been granted to the people whose activity and civic attitude influence the development of the Vilnius District Municipality.

Among this year’s prize-winners, there is the Lithuanian Seimas Deputy, Ms Rita Tamašunienė who was granted the first degree Award for “The achievements in educating the human capital”. In 2012, Ms Rita Tamašunienė held function of the Deputy Director for Administration of the Vilnius District Municipality.

Ms Lucjana Binkiewicz, the Head of the Rural Department, was awarded a distinction for “The achievements in strengthening the financial and productivity capital”.

The Elder of the Kalvelių eldership, Ms Krystyna Gierasimowicz was awarded a distinction for “The achievements in educating the social capital”.

The Industrial and Employers’ Confederation of the Vilnius and the Vilnius District Municipality is the organiser of the contest. The nominees are submitted by the Administrations of 8 Self-Governments, 2 Industrial and Trade Union’s Confederation. The jury composed of 24 people shortlists the prize-winners in four categories:  for “The achievements in educating the human capital”, for “The achievements in educating the social capital”, for “The achievements in strengthening the financial and productivity capital” and for “The achievements in social structures development”.
