On Tuesday (September 25) in Vilnius region two new multi-purpose fields were opened in Rukojnie and Niemież. These playgrounds are built at local schools, but the local government of Vilnius ensures that not only school pupils will be able to use them.

Sports square in Niemież was opened at St. Raphael Kalinowski’s School. According to the government, students in this city had limited opportunity to take up sports. School playground was built in 1983 and it wasn’t renovated since then. Construction of the new field cost 268 thousand litas.

A similar situation was in Rukojnie, where runs a sports club “Rusva” participating in regional football competition. The pitch, however, wasn’t suited to the requirements of the European Union. Construction of the new field cost about 200 thousand litas.

Construction of sports grounds in Niemieżu and Rukojniach were financed by the local government of Vilnius region, Ministry of Agriculture and EU funds.
