Representatives of Polish organisations met with Linkevičius

Representatives of Polish community in Lithuania met with the Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius. During an informal meeting they discussed the issue of Polish-Lithuanian cooperation at international and global level.

In the meeting participated: the president of the Polish Discussion Club (PKD) Ewelina Mokrzecka, member of the board of the PKD Andžej Pukšto, headmasters of Polish schools in Vilnius: Czesław Dawidowicz and Adam Błaszkiewicz, and Ewelina Dobrowolska – EFHR coordinator.

“I am glad that such meetings take place. Lithuania becomes more and more open for talks, for listening to our problems and looking for the ways to solve them” – said the president of the PKD Ewelina Mokrzecka in an interview with zw.lt.

As the president of the Club added, a lot of attention was paid to Polish education in Lithuania – textbooks, Lithuanian language exam or an extra point for the first language final exam. EFHR lawyer Ewelina Dobrowolska raised the issue of the original name spelling and of Lithuania fulfilling its international obligations.

“All of these matters are known to the minister and he announced that he will try to influence their positive resolution. He also expressed the hope that similar meetings, in different configurations, will be held on a regular basis and the Polish community will inform the representatives of the authorities of their problems and expectations” – emphasized Mokrzecka.
