Vilnius representation at the Festival of Borderlands Culture in Mrągowo

In Mrągowo, there is the 22nd Festival of Borderlands Culture going on. Lithuania is being represented by almost 100 people; members of folk groups, poets, artists, folk authors. This Saturday night, the big gala concert in which groups “Perła” and “Jutrzenka” will participate.

The aim of the Festival of Borderlands Culture is to cherish Polish cultural traditions, popularize the artistic works of Borderlands groups, support the groups and organizations of the Poles in Eastern Borderlands in cherishing and continuing the Polish culture, enable personal meetings of the authors and the cultural leaders, exchange the experience, contact with relatives and friends, visit the homeland – the organizers are informing.

Groups and individual authors from the Vilnius region have participated in the festival from its very beginning.

This year, to Mrągowo went: Kapela Svietojanska from Sužionys, folk dance group “Perła” and “Jutrzenka” from Nemenčinė, Song and Dance Group “Jawor” from Avižieniai, and a combo “Suderwianie” from Sudervė.

Apolonia Skakowska and the young poets Daniel Krajczyński and Daniel Rogoża participated in a poetic evening which took place on Friday evening.

The guests of the festival will have an opportunity to see the paintings of Renata Utowka and Władysław Ławrynowicz, and an exhibition of photographs by Jerzy Karpowicz entitled “Places of National Remembrance of the Vilnius Region”.

At the festival, folk authors and craftsmen from the Vilnius region will offer their goods and Vilnius delicacies.
