Initiative “Friendly Vilnius” Invites to Lithuania’s Capital City

On Monday the initiative “Friendly Vilnius” is due to be presented in Lithuania’s capital city, as well as a map prepared by its originators, whose aim is to promote openness to various nationalities, lifestyles, sexual orientations, and disabilities in the city.

In the widespread commercial the idea is supported by the city residents, as well as by personalities well-known in Lithuania: the artist Jolita Vaitkutė, comic Paulius Ambrazevičius, actress Aistė Diržiūtė, and the film director Saulius Baradinskas.  In the video clip created by “Raven House”, a couple from Kaunas plays as well, who gained fame thanks to a bold kiss; these are Pijus Beizaras and Mangirdas Levickas.

From today on ten thousand maps “Friendly Vilnius” will be distributed for free in cafés, restaurants, and companies, as well as in the Tourist Information Centre in Vilnius.

The map is also available online on www.friendlyvilnius.lt. Those who will visit the website and insert the proper category will find a friendly café, beauty salon, and other places they are looking for.

The European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) supports the initiative of making Vilnius friendly. Thanks to the cooperation with the EFHR, the website “Friendly Vilnius” is going to be available in Polish as well.

The presentation of the project is due to take place in the Vilnius bar “Peronas” (ul. Geležinkelio 6) today at 6 p.m.
