Błaszkiewicz: This award means a lot to me

Yesterday (30th January) in the House of National Communities the second part of the Association of awarding medals “For services to Vilnius and the Nation” took place. Among the distinguished guests was Director of John Paul II Middle School Adam Błaszkiewicz.

“This award really means a lot to me, because I always hope that the Lithuanian and Polish communities can come together. I hope that together we can build the future, that we are brought together to build a better future.” –  said Błaszkiewicz to zw.lt, adding that such initiatives and awards are a huge step in encouraging Polish-Lithuanian dialogue.

Among the distinguished activists were minorities: Pushkin Museum Director Tatjana Michniova, Vitalijus Karakorskis, distinguished member of the Jewish Community, the Chairman of the Lithuanian Club of Belarusians Siabryna” Valentina Stechas, President of the Chechen Community Eminat Saijeva and President of the Community of Lithuanian Tatars Adas Jakubauskas.

The ”For services to Vilnius and the Nation” initiative was established in 2009. Each year proponents of friendly relations between ethnic groups in Lithuania are rewarded.
