The Social Committee for Care over the Old Rasos nominated to the St Christopher’s Award
The deadline for submittion of nominations of the candidates to the St Christopher’s Award has passed. Every year in Vilnius the candidates, institutions, and organizations that deserve the award are presented.
The nominations are given for achievements in fields of science, law, medicine, education, arts and culture, sports, business, tourism, creating the image of Vilnius, as well as for a contribution in the field of architecture and charitable activities.
The radio ‘Znad Wilii’ in cooperation with The Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, ‘Kurier Wileński’ newspaper and the Polish House in Vilnius have submitted a nomination of the Social Committee for Care over the Old Rasos to the St Christopher’s Award.
It is worth to remind that thanks to the Social Committee for Care over the Old Rasos over 100 monuments of the oldest necropolis in Vilnius have been renovated. This year 8 graves have been renewed and funds were collected for further renovation works.
Jury selects up to ten winners from the submitted nominations who will receive a statuette from the hands of the mayor of Vilnius.
The statuette of St Christopher – the patron saint of Vilnius – is an annual award, especially valuable, as the candidates are nominated by the residents of Vilnius. The bronze statuette has been designed by Erikas Daugulis.
