In Vilnius, the new branch of Vilnius Region Credit Union has been opened by a glass of champagne and a short prayer. The main office of the Union will be held in there.

„We are honoured to have you as our guests and to open the branch. The ceremony will begin with the cut of the ribbon. Then, the building and the present people will be blessed” – Waldemar Karpowicz, the chairman of Vilnius Region Credit Union (UKRW) management, welcomed the guests in a humorous way.

After the ribbon had been cut, Józef Aszkiełowicz, the priest dean, said a short prayer and blessed Credit Union branch.

Many guests from Lithuania and Mother country arrived at the opening ceremony. Polish guests who came to the opening ceremony were Grzegorz Bierecki – the chairman of World Council of Credit Unions and the parliament representative of Republic of Poland, and Rafał Matusiak – the chairman of National Bank SKOK management.

In the opening speech, Bierecki stressed that it is a special ceremony to him because he was able to come back to Credit Union, which he co-created a few years ago. “It is always pleasant to cut the ribbon. I have pleasure to do it in various places in the world because I am the representative of the organization which works in 101 countries and have 200 millions of members but it is an enormous pleasure among Polish friends in Vilnius” – the senator said.

“It is always a pleasure to be a witness of such events that prove the growth of the institution. People who can take advantage of your service come to you every day. You take credit for it” – Matusiak added.

UKRW was set in 1994. There are over 1800 members and the yearly turnover is over 17 million litas.
