The Pole Justyna Awgul – „A Hope of the Lithuania’s Year”. Mikutavičius fell on his knees

15 country’s heroes have been rewarded yesterday in the National Philharmonic Society during the project “Honor of Lithuania 2014” („Lietuvos garbė 2014“). One of them was the Pole Justyna Awgul, a student of 11th grade of Adam Mickiewicz Junior High School in Vilnius. Justyna has been rewarded in the category “A Hope of the Year”.

This year the people who formed the jury and rewarded the heroes were the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, the Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, the maestro Virgilijus Noreika, the Lithuanian folklore performer Veronika Povilionienė, the leader of the band Antis Algirdas Kaušpėdas and others.

15 country’s heroes have been rewarded in seven categories. Justyna Awgul, a student of 11th grade of Adam Mickiewicz Junior High School in Vilnius, has been rewarded in the category “A Hope of the Year”.

 “I am a student of Adam Mickiewicz Junior High School, I live in Vilnius. I study and I am a volunteer in the Blessed Father Michal Sopocko Hospice. A friend of mine, Dorota Matujzo, filled in a questionnaire on the website of the Tv3 channel thanks to which I have been rewarded” – Justyna said to PL DELFI.

Despite her young age, the girl devotes a plenty of her spare time to the elderly. She takes care of the elderly in need who suffer from cancer. Her devotion is appreciated by the highest Lithuanian leaders of the Church.

 “I am courageous, I like small fights, I enjoy organizing diverse school parties, and I love spending my time in the Hospice” – Justyna said about herself.

During the gala, a host of the event, a famous singer Marijonas Mikutavičius paid tribute to Justyna in an unexpected way and fell on his knees in front of her. The performance with the singer Katarzyna Niemyćko was the next challenge for the girl.

 “Frankly, I was really stressed out, but Katarzyna Niemyćko helped me overcome my fear and she was supportive to me, which I really appreciate” – Justyna said about the gala.
