“Remembrance about Jan Śniadecki will last forever, we follow glorious sponsor’s example” – this is a fragment of Jan Śniadecki Junior High School’s hymn. The community of the Junior High School organize celebration of eminent Polish astronomer, geographer, mathematician and philosopher, rector of Vilnius University every year . They organize Sponsor’s Day.

This year, the teachers decided to celebrate Sponsor’s Day in a non-traditional way. “It is the reason why on 23th November at 10 o’clock, 38 cars go from the chapel in Šalčininkai to Jašiūnai direction“- said, Beata Mockienė, the deputy head of the Junior High School to a reporter from “Znad Wilii” (“From Vilnius”) Radio Station.

The next improvised History lesson took place in Merkinė near the ruins of old Paweł Ksawery Brzostowski’s palace. Sponsor’s Day finished with an event of giving diplomas to participants of the trip.

B. Mockienė, the deputy head, says that the aim of Sponsor’s Day is to share knowledge about History as well as the promotion of the region and its monuments.
