In defence of Poles in Lithuania

WARSAW. Yesterday in front of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the embassy of Lithuania in Poland the demonstrators demanded a more active governmental policy on the situation of Poles in Lithuania, associated with, among other things, Lithuanian Law on Education.

The appeal to the Prime Minister, signed by the representatives of the Federation of Borderland Organisations [Polish: Federacja Organizacji Kresowych], “Memoriae Fidelis” Association, the Right of the Republic [Polish: Prawica Rzeczpospolitej], and “KoLiber” Association, deals with the problem of Lithuanian “legal and administrative repression” that limits the usage of Polish language in the public sphere, for example naming of street signs and shop windows.
