The date for Parliamentary Assembly of Poland and Lithuania is already known
The session of The Assembly of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland has ended. The politicians decided that after almost ten years of break, the assembly will take place on 11th and 12th of January in Warsaw.
“We spoke of various topics, especially of the difficult ones that result from the state union of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth that are not realized on the Lithuanian side. However, the atmosphere there is really good. The atmosphere that lasts for another year. This is the time to strive for the assembly of our parliaments after ten years of break” – said MP Małgorzata Gosiewska.
As she confirmed, the meeting of two states will take place on 11th and 12th of January in Warsaw.
“There is a lot of work ahead of us, but there is a time to discuss mutual declarations. What’s important, there is a good atmosphere, there is support for our demands concerning matters important for the Polish minority in Lithuania” said Gosiewska.
As also added by Małgorzata Gosiewska, among the main topics there is spelling of surnames, town names, the issue of the Law on National Minorities and “the powerful thematic block” related to education.
“A block of experts appointed by the ministers of education is working on these topics. These are things that are still ahead of us, but they seem to be on the right track” said Gosiewska.
The Polish and Lithuanian delegations consist of 20 parliamentarians on each side.
