The radio station “Znad Wilii” will restore the grave of Piotr Sławiński at the Rasos Cemetery

As part of celebrating the 25th birthday of the Radio Znad Wilii, which is on the 1st of July, the grave of Piotr Sławiński will be renovated at the Rasos Cemetery. Piotr Sławiński was Ph.D. in philosophy, professor of Vilnius University and the head of the Vilnius Astronomical Observatory for many years.

Piotr Sławiński, who lived in the nineteenth century, was from the Vilnius Region. He was born and died in the village Kena. He was buried at Rasos Cemetery. A cast-iron cross, which had been erected on his grave, has never been restored, supposes the head of the Social Committee for the Maintenance of Old Rasos Cemetery Alicja Klimaszewska.

“We can only imagine how this iron cross, which was placed on his grave after his death, looked like, ” said Alicja Klimaszewska when talking to the Radio Znad Wilii.

The grave of Piotr Sławiński is located near the main chapel of Old Rasos Cemetery. It is on the left when going down the cemetery.

Donations for the restoring of the grave will be collected, among others, during the jubilee celebrations of Radio Znad Wilii, which will be held on the 28th of June.

One can also support restoring of the grave, making a money transfer on the account of the Foundation of Charity and Support of Radio Station Znad Wilii with the annotation “Piotr Sławiński”.
