Linas Linkevičius is thankful for Polish support in 1991

Speech of Linas Linkevičius

Dear Polish citizens,

Lithuania will never forget your warm support and solidarity in the 14th January 1991, it was happening while USRR’s tanks attacked Lithuanian citizens.

They were trying to destroy our freedom.

10,000 of Polish citizens were standing together in the centre of Warsaw to show the support for Lithuania and blame barbarian actions of the Soviet Union.

Poland showed the full solidarity with Lithuania. We are thankful not only for extremely needed political suport at that time, also we are thankful also for humanitarian help which run from many different Polish towns and cities.

Both unity and mutual help of our countries is very important even today. History shows that we can achieve a lot together.

Let’s care about our freedom.
