Lilija Kiejzik awarded by the Department of National Minorities
Lilija Kiejzik, a manager and director of the Polish Theatre Studio, was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor for activity promoting the development of culture of national minorities by the Department of National Minorities under the Lithuanian Government.
“For me, it was a nice surprise before Christmas, because it is the first such medal from Lithuania. Of course I had a few diplomas. When I realized I have been working with the theatre for 30 years as a manager, I thought that I perhaps had deserved it. It is especially pleasing because it’s an award for promoting national identity”, said Lilija Kiejzik in an interview with Radio Znad Wilii.
Lilija Kiejzik, a trained director and Polish teacher, became a head of the Polish Theatre Studio in 1986. Over the years the theatre has staged countless shows based on dramatic works, poetry and music.
The activity of the Polish Theatre is not limited to shows only. Since the beginning of the 90s The Polish Theatre Studio has organized meetings with famous actors and directors as well as theatre workshops. It collaborates with theatres in Poland and abroad and with Polish organizations in Lithuania.
Performances of the Polish Theatre Studio in Vilnius have been played on many stages in Poland, Germany, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.
The festival “Wileńskie Spotkania Sceny Polskiej” and the International Festival of Monoshow “MONOWschód” are organized on the initiative of the director and the head of the Studio Lilija Kiejzik. In November 2015 the Polish Theatre Studio celebrated the anniversary of 55 years of work.
