Skvernelis: I will try to reset relations with Poland
The new program of the government provides for repairing relations with Poland and strengthening the cooperation with the US. The new government will support countries of the Eastern Partnership: Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.
“We will seek a mutual and open dialogue with Poland to ensure our economic and safety affairs through solving of existing problems”, says the program.
Concerning security issues, the government wants to cooperate not only with Poland, but also with countries of Northern and Central Europe.
The new Prime Minister has already talked about relations with Warsaw. “Recently relations with Poland may have not been bad, but they have not been as in a neighborhood. It has to be changed. I will do my best within my powers to give some new acceleration to relations with Poland and to reset them”, said Skvernelis from the rostrum of the Parliament in November.
The new government wants soldiers of NATO and the US to be based in Lithuania.
Cooperation with France and Germany will also be a priority for the new government.
Policy towards Russia probably will not change.
