“Behold Lithuania with eyes of various nations”. Photo competition lasts.

The Department of National Minorities announced the photo competition entitled “Various nations – one Lithuania”, which is meant to popularize the community life of national minorities in our country, strengthen the reciprocal dialog and reciprocal support.

“The aim of the competition is to behold Lithuania with eyes of various nations. We are counting on different photographs which would reflect how various nations live together in our country. The deadline to send your work is 30th September. The subject is: “Various nations, one Lithuania” and what does that mean is up to you to decide according to your artistic imaginativeness” – says the leader of the Department of Analysis of Policy and Information of National Minorities Vaiva Veželytė-Pokladova.

An amateur or a professional photographer, everybody can participate in the competition organized by the Department of the National Minorities.

“We are hoping that not only people who are professional photographers will take part in our competition. There are a few requirements regarding the photographs – those should have good quality and be suitable for printing. Beforehand, I can reveal that in autumn we would like to release a calendar illustrated with the photographs from the competition. At least 1MB and .jpg format. The competition takes place for the first time, so we do not know whether the people will be interested or not. If they like the idea, we will think of the continuation of it – organization of an exhibition or releasing a series of postcards” – announces Vaiva Veželytė-Pokladova.

The works will be assessed by the committee but the public will also get a chance to evaluate them. From 1st to 7th October, the photographs will be placed on the Facebook page of the Department of National Minorities, where everybody will be allowed to mark the best works.
