A modern and cosy Polish school in Šumskas

Located on the outskirts of the Vilnius region, the Primary School in Šumskas invited guests for a celebration of the school renovation end, which took place on 4th February.

Among those who attended the event were: Maria Rekść, the mayor of the Local Government of the Vilnius Region; Councillor Stanisław Zajankowski; Lilia Andruszkiewicz, the head of the Education Department; Edmund Szot, the head of the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism; and Krystyna Gierasimowicz, the elder of Kalabariškės. Deputy Chairman of the Seimas Jarosław Narkiewicz, headmasters of the neighbouring schools, teachers, parents, and other guests came to the school to express their congratulations as well.

During the concert children and teachers thanked all of the people who had contributed to the renovation of the school building and strived to make the school cosy and comfortable both for the students and people who had worked there.

The school headmaster Janina Zienkiewicz thanked the region management not just for the building renovation, but also for providing conditions adequate to the effective work of the school. Also the parents sincerely expressed their gratitude for the appropriate care for their children. They voiced their hope that one day they would bring their grandchildren to that beautiful school as well.

The guests had the opportunity to observe a school young talent show and listen to the list of changes in the school presented by Deputy Headmaster for Education Leokadia Żukowska.

After the concert Mayor Maria Rekść saw all of the school classrooms. The children showed the rooms willingly, talked about learning and their hobbies. Glad with the works performed and the modernised school, the mayor praised the school community for its activity and wished it all the best in everything it did.

Jan Czerniawski, the Saint Michael the Archangel parish priest in Šumskas, hallowed the renovated rooms.
