The Honorary Citizenship of Vilnius District for Waldemar Tomaszewski and the protest meeting

The Council of Vilnius District has registered the project whereby the leader of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania (AWPL), Waldemar Tomaszewki, is supposed to be granted the Honorary Citizenship of Vilnius District.
The Council of Vilnius District received the request for giving Waldemar Tomaszewski the Honorary Citizenship from the inhabitants of Lavoriškių (Ławaryszki), Buivydžiai (Bujwidze) and Sužionys (Sużany). In their letter of recommendation, the people enumerated Tomaszewski’s merits and services to the region and society.
On the 10th of March 2015, the appropriate commission of the Council of Vilnius District decided to support the project concerning the Honorary Citizenship of Vilnius District for Waldemar Tomaszewski.
The commission also mentioned the advantages coming from the Honorary Citizenship for Waldemar Tomaszewski. ‘Granting Waldemar Tomaszewski, the eurodeputy and president of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania, the Honorary Citizenship of Vilnius District, we will appreciate his merits and actions for the welfare and development of the Vilnius District.’
However, in the Internet there appeared the movement calling for participation in the protest meeting, apparently organized by members of the Council of Vilnius District who does not approve the abovementioned project. The meeting is being held this Friday at 9:30 A.M. next to the Council of Vilnius District.
