The 100-year-old soldier of Home Army from Tabariškės was appointed a Sub-Poruchik

The participant of the September Campaign 1939, the soldier of Home Army, the prisoner of Łukiszki, forced to migration to Syberia from Šalčininkai District Municipality, Stanisław Wierciński received the act of appointment for a Sub-Poruchik.

The act of appointment was signed by the President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski and given by the colonel Zbigniew Szlęk, the Defense Attaché. People who also appeared at the ceremony were the Consul General Stanisław Cygnarowski, the delegation of combatants with Edward Klonowski and the Starost (the District Head) of Turgiele gmina, Wojciech Jurgielewicz.

The appointment ceremony took place in the family house of Stanisław Wierciński who is supported by his family: his wife, son and grand-daughter. The Ambassador and other participants of the meeting gave Mr Stanisław their wishes on the occasion of hundred birthday that the combatant celebrates on the 11th of October.

The colonel Zbigniew Szlęk read the congratulation letter for Sub-Poruchik Wierciński from the director of the Department of Personnel of the Ministry of National Defense, Divisional General Andrzej Wasilewski who congratulated Stanisław Wierciński on the occasion of the appointment for a Sub-Poruchik and wished him a long life and good health. S. Wierciński received the beret of the Land Forces from the Defense Attaché. The beret has the distinction of Sub-Poruchik sewn on.

The married couple of Mrs and Mr Wierciński have been together and supported each other for 74 years. They thanked the guests for coming with tears in their eyes. They shared the memories from their life that is rich in both difficult and happy experiences.
