Over 67 thousand litas for Polish organizations’ projects from Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania

Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania announced results of the competition on grant-aid for organizations of national minorities in Lithuania in 2014. 288 thousand litas were divided and almost 67 thousand litas were given for projects of Polish organizations.

Applications for finance for cultural, education project which aim is to protect national heritage for both children and teenagers could be filled by non-governmental organizations, public benefit organizations and foundations that represent and act for national minorities.

In 2014, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania allocated 288 thousand litas for finance for national minorities organizations. 181 applications were submitted. The jury, appointed by the minister, awarded 76 projects. Grant-aid will be given to the organizations which have the Armenians, the Azerbaijani, the Belorussian, the Estonian, the Greek, the Karaite, the Latvian, the Russian, the Romani, the Romanian, the Tatar, the Ukrainian, the Uzbek, the Hungarian, and the Jew who live in Lithuania.

There are 13 applications of Polish organizations that received a positive opinion. Regional branches of Polish Union in Lithuania: „Lauda” Branch received 3 thousand litas for having school of Polish; Polish Culture Society in Jauniūnų received 5,7 thousand litas for organizing X Festival of Polish Culture “Śpiewaj z nami” (“Sing with us”) and 25th anniversary of “Czerwone Maki” (“Red Poppies”) Band; Trakai  Branch of Union of Poles in Lithuania received 11,5 thousand litas for preparing Christmas concert “Droga do Betlejem” (“Way to Bethlehem”) and they also received 6 thousand litas for organizing the concert on 25th anniversary of Song and Dance Ensemble “Troczanie”.  Union of Poles in Lithuania was given 3652 litas for the concert on 25th anniversary of the Choir “Legenda” (“Legend”). Association of Polish Schools’ Teachers in Lithuania “Schools Mothercountry” received also 7 thousand litas, which they are allocating for XVIII School Theatres Festival and XV Festival of Song of School Children and Teenagers. Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania gave a grant to Polish artistic ensembles “Wilia” and “Zgoda” and Polish Theatre in Vilnius and Polish Theatre Studio in Vilnius.
